"Atkinson & Company" and "Atkinson & Company Patent, Trademark & Design Attorneys" are trading styles of Atkinson & Company Intellectual Property Limited, referred to on this page as "the Company".
It is a requirement that both Patent Attorneys and Trade Mark Attorneys are regulated in compliance with the provisions of the Legal Services Act 2007. The Intellectual Property Regulation Board (IPReg) oversees the regulation of attorneys on behalf of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA).
The Company is registered as an Entity with IPReg, and employees of the Company who are Patent Attorneys and/or Trade Mark Attorneys are registered as Regulated Persons with IPReg.
In addition, employees of the Company who are European Patent Attorneys are governed by the regulations of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi).
Employees of the Company who are Patent Attorneys, and employees of the Company who are Technical Assistants to Patent Attorneys are members of CIPA. Employees of the Company who are Trade Mark Attorneys are Corporate Members of ITMA.
What does this mean for me?
The upshot of regulation is that:
- We are bound by an industry-wide Code of Conduct
- We have a year-round programme of Continuing Professional Development
- We have professional indemnity insurance
- We have a documented complaints procedure, and you may lodge complaints with IPReg
