    1.  This Notice applies to you if we hold your personal data but you do not fall in the categories under the section Who this Notice does not apply to below.
    2.  You may have made an enquiry of us but not become a client, you may be an employee or associate of one of our clients or suppliers, you may have signed or witnessed a contract that is in our possession, or we may hold your contact details for some other reason.
  3.  Who this Notice does not apply to
    1.  If you have signed a Letter of Engagement to become our client in your personal capacity, this Notice does not apply to you. If you need a copy of our Privacy Notice for Clients or our Data Protection Policy, please contact us.
    2.  If you are an individual associated with one of our clients whose personal data we hold for reasons other than to contact you, such as an inventor, designer, witness etc, this Notice does not apply to you. If you need a copy of our Privacy Notice for Individuals, please contact us.
  4.  The data we hold
    1.  If you make an enquiry
    2. If you visit, call or email us to make an enquiry, you may voluntarily provide and/or we may request some contact details in order for us to deal with your enquiry. This data may include your name, address, telephone number, and email address. We need these to provide any requested information and to arrange a consultation.
    3.  If you are an employee of or otherwise associated with one of our clients or suppliers
    4. When our services are engaged by a company, we may be provided with business contact details, and occasionally personal contact details, of employees or associates of that client. In addition, when we engage the services of a supplier, we may be provided with business contact details of employees or associates of that supplier. We need these contact details in order to carry out our day to day activities.
    5.  If you have signed or witnessed a contract
    6. If you have signed or witnessed a contract related to an intellectual property right that is in our records, then you may have written your name and/or address on that contract.

    8. We may hold your contact details for some other reason related to our day to day activities.
  5.  How we use the data
    1.  If you make an enquiry
    2. We will only use the data to correspond with you regarding your appointment and any follow-up information that you request. If you engage our services, we will provide you with a client care package; in that case our Privacy Notice for Clients will supersede this one.
    3.  If you are an employee of or otherwise associated with one of our clients or suppliers
    4. We will only use the data to correspond with you regarding our client or supplier. If you are later named as an inventor, designer, witness etc, we will require further data from you. In that case we will provide you with a Privacy Notice for Individuals which will supersede this one.
    5. We may share your business contact details with other business contacts if it is necessary for our day to day activities. For example, we may need to provide you with an introduction to a professional in another field.
    6.  If you have signed or witnessed a contract
    7. We do not transfer this data to our electronic records, but we may need to make copies of the contract and provide them to third parties.
    8.  Other
    9. If we hold your contact details for some other reason, we will only contact you for the purposes for which the details were provided.
  6.  What we will not do
    1.  Except in the specific circumstances mentioned in the previous section, we will not provide your data to any third party unless we receive your explicit consent to do so.
    2.  We will not contact you for marketing purposes.
  7.  How long we will keep the data
    1.  We need to keep your data for as long as it is necessary for us to contact you, after which it will be archived. Due to the necessity to refer back to our files for various reasons, we do not delete data from our archived files unless requested.
    2.  In the case of a contract, we are not able to destroy an original contract as it is a legal document that must be kept.
  8.  Your rights over your data
    1.  You have the right to request us to do any or all of the following.
      1.  Provide you with a copy of the data we hold on you, and/or information on how we have processed it.
      2.  Correct or complete the data we hold on you.
      3.  Stop processing your data, and/or delete it.
      4.  Restrict the processing of the data, which means that we continue to store it but do not use it.

    5.  We will respond to your request within one calendar month, by either confirming that your request has been carried out, or by providing reasons why it is not possible to carry out your request.
    6.  If we do not respond, or if you are unhappy with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority. The supervisory authority in the UK is the Information Commissioner’s Office.
